Start with the site, not the spec.

The useful first conversation is about what the facility is, what is already installed and what keeps going wrong. The specification follows from that — it is not the place to begin.

02 What helps

Six things that make the first reply worth reading.

None of these are required. Each one removes a round trip.

  1. 01

    The facility

Type, location and rough floor area. A warehouse and a fab are different problems.

  2. 02

    What is already installed

Cameras, access control, alarm, and roughly how old. Existing hardware can often stay and simply start doing more.

  3. 03

    What keeps happening

Shrinkage, tailgating, doors propped open, blind spots — the actual incidents, not the feature list.

  4. 04

    Who has to be satisfied

An insurer, a customer audit, a TAPA certification. The standard decides much of the design.

  5. 05

    Site constraints

Live production, ESD zones, work-at-height, buried services. These shape the sequence and the price more than the device count does.

  6. 06

    Timeline

Including any fixed date — an audit, a go-live, a lease start.
